Haridwar and Rishikesh are two of the most significant pilgrimage and spiritual destinations in India, located in the state of Uttarakhand. Haridwar is one of the seven holiest cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism. The name "Haridwar" means "Gateway to God" (Hari refers to Lord Vishnu and Dwar means door or gate). It is a major pilgrimage center where millions of devotees visit each year to take a holy dip in the Ganga, believed to cleanse sins and grant salvation (moksha).
Rishikesh is a serene town located about 25 kilometers from Haridwar and is famous for its ashrams, yoga retreats, and spiritual practices. The town is also the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas and a popular destination for adventure activities such as river rafting and trekking.
